If you do not make a will, then in effect the state does it for you. Without a will (or with one that is not up to date), there are certain rules which dictate where your money and possessions go. This could mean that your family and friends might not necessarily benefit.

Making a will can also be important for you as it can help reduce inheritance tax on your estate, since legacies to charities like Ayush Society are exempt. If you have already made a will, then it is quite easy to make an addition to it by making a codicil, which is then lodged with your existing will.
